Under Armour has released a short video starring English rapper Kano, who pays tribute to Anthony Joshua, the new Unified Heavyweight Champion of the World, while delivering an inspirational message, urging him to seize the moment after the win over Klitschko, on April 29, and continue on “the road to greatness”.
Kano, who made the video at the iconic Repton Boxing Club in Bethnal Green, London, performs the song with the following lyrics:
“Before the ink’s even dry, the history books are being written
Those pens are reserved for the gifted and driven
But there’s a winner in all of us
A plan bigger than all uf us
Yet that council estate of mind will forever be stalling us
Could have been a stereotype
Till I decided I would pave my own path through this life
Because footsteps are not to be followed unless overtaken
Corners shan’t be cut on the road to greatness, the game is
Lessons learnt and dropped jewels
Sacrifices and falls
You can’t checkmate life without losing pawns
They told us we would never make it
They told us not to reach the sky ‘coz they didn’t
I told them when the stars align, it’s just our time
From “the new” to the “and still!”
Seize the moment, I will’.
Under Armour is Joshua’s official training, footwear and apparel partner, and launched, before his fight with the Ukrainian boxer, a commercial starring Joshua, titled “Inspired by greatness”, that features him urging viewers to never lose their hunger.
