SPAR Christmas Finding Trees Advert Song

SPAR Ireland Christmas Finding Trees Advert

SPAR has decided to go for a “quirky but warm” advert for this year’s Christmas and celebrate its love for the annual festive period, as well as its connectedness with the communities that they serve throughout Ireland.

The spot, a sequel to the convenience retail group’s previous Christmas ad, picks up its original theme of “Finding Trees”, but cleverly reinterprets it in a modern way. A diverse cast of people is shown finding Christmas trees in unexpected places and even creating them. One of the trees, for instance, is made from drones up in the moonlit sky.

The advert was filmed over five days at various locations across Galway, Kildare, Wicklow, Meath, and Dublin and features a number of non-actors.

Among them are two of the original cast members from the 2012 SPAR advert, who were, at that time, cast as primary-school pupils.

The soundtrack music is a cover of The Christmas Song, originally performed by The Raveonettes.

“Wherever you find the tree, we hope you like what’s under it,” says the voiceover at the end of the spot.

The advert is set to run across TV and video on demand until Christmas Day, with airing slated during the FIFA World Cup tournament and The Late Late Toy Show, which will be broadcast on 25 November.
