M&M’s Maya Rudolph I Love Eating My Own Face Super Bowl Commercial

M&M's Maya Rudolph Super Bowl Commercial - Chief Of Fun

M&M’s has enlisted Maya Rudolph as its new “Chief of Fun” and has released a commercial featuring the SNL star.

A spot recently released by the Mars-owned brand shows the comedian holding a sort of press conference in which she says she loves M&M’s and people love her (she also has statistics to prove it). Rudolph also announces that the brand will have a picture of her face painted on the chocolate-covered candies and, after tasting one, she says she loves eating her own face.

The partnership with Rudolph comes after an update of the cartoon versions of the chocolate treat, which appear in ads, caused a backlash. In January 2022, Mars Inc, the candy’s parent company, announced the rebranding of the cartoon characters as part of a “global commitment to creating a world where everyone feels they belong and society is inclusive”. Among the changes done were the replacement of the green M&M’s go-go boots with a pair of “cool, laid-back” sneakers and shorter heels for Brown M&M. Now, M&Ms indefinitely paused their “spokescandies” without revealing the reason behind this decision. At the moment it is also unknown how long the pause will last.

The candy company stated it did not intend for the rebranding of its spokescandies to be a divisive issue and added it is confident that its new spokesperson Rudolph “will champion the power of fun to create a world where everyone feels they belong”.
