The Lindt & Sprüngli-owned chocolate brand Russell Stover has released a heartwarming commercial, that celebrates gifting moments and hugs.
The spot features a diverse cast of people, including two girl friends who haven’t seen each other in a long time, a young couple meeting at the airport, a military and his younger brother, a primary school teacher and her class, a father and his grown-up daughter, hugging each other after sharing a gifting moment that include a box of Russell Stover chocolates.
“Sending everyone out there a virtual hug” an onscreen line reads at the end of the ad, which is scored by an original song titled “I Wanna Make You Happy” and performed by critically-acclaimed Roc Nation artist Victory.
Earlier this year, the brand encouraged TikTok users to join the “world’s biggest virtual hug” by creating their own videos and captioning them with the #worldsbiggestvirtualhug, #quarantine, #healthheroes and #russellstover hashtags. To promote its campaign, Russell Stover tapped Jason Coffee, a TikTok star.
In honor of National Nurses Week, which ran from May 6 through May 12, the chocolate brand donated chocolate to hospitals in select cities to thank healthcare workers for their hard work during the pandemic. The national campaign also includes a collaboration with GIF-sharing company Giphy to let people send virtual hugs to each other, given the coronavirus pandemic, which dissuades physical contact. People also had a catalog of GIF video clips that they could share on social media with the hashtag #MakeHappy.
Russell Stover range of candies includes Russell Stover Candies Assorted, Russell Stover Candies Milk Chocolate Pecan Delights, Milk Chocolate Sea Salt Pecan Delights, Chocolate Covered Nuts, Caramel and Nuts Assortment, Milk Chocolate Toffee Squares, and more.
