Netflix has droped the official trailer for Angelina Jolie’s biographical historical thriller First They Killed My Father.
Based on Loung Ung’s memoir of the same name, the film, set in Cambodia, is a portrayal of Khmer Rouge’s reign of terror and genocide, which led to the deaths of nearly a quarter of the population from 1975 to 1979, from the view of a five-year-old.
The cast includes Sareum Srey Moch as Loung, Phoeung Kompheak and Sveng Socheata as her parents, Tharoth Sam as Khmer Rouge, and child actors who were scouted, according to Vanity Fair, from “orphanages, circuses and slum schools”.
First They Killed My Father is set to premiere on the streaming service on September 15.
