Mariah Carey stars in what is described as “the biggest ever Walkers Christmas advert”. The 49-year old singer, famous for her hit festive single “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” has signed a £9million deal to front the snack brand’s Christmas ad this year.
The spot shows you what happens behind the scenes when the global megastar and a Christmas Elf discover the last bag of Walkers Pigs in Blankets. “I love Christmas. It’s a magical time. A time for giving. A time for caring. A time for sharing,” Mariah says in voiceover while on screen she is seen going back stage after filming a Christmas video in which she sings her famous single “All I Want For Christmas Is You”. However, when she and an elf put their hands on the last bag of Walkers crisps, they start an interesting fight, which she wins.
“Walkers. Too good to share,” the voiceover says at the end of the commercial, which also showcases the brand’s crisps and the two limited-edition flavors, Pigs in Blankets and Brussels Sprouts.
The campaign ties in with the relaunch of Carey’s 1994 festive album “Merry Christmas,” which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and which took place on November 1.
The singer also recently announced her All I Want For Christmas Is You tour, named after her hit Christmas single from the album.
