Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for the suspense thriller Greta, from Academy Award-winning director Neil Jordan.
The film revolves around Frances (Chloë Grace Moretz), a sweet, naive young woman trying to make it on her own in New York City, who finds a handbag on the subway and returns it to its rightful owner, who it turns out is an eccentric French piano teacher named Greta (Isabelle Huppert). The two form a close relationship, given Frances’ recent loss of her mother and Greta’s loneliness. However, the young woman soon discovers a dark secret about Greta and realizes her life is in danger.
The cast also includes Maika Monroe, Colm Feore, and Stephen Rea.
The trailer gives viewers a glimpse into Frances’ life before and after her encounter with Greta, who it turns out is a dangerous woman, with evil plans. She leaves handbags around the city in order to get the finder go to her.
Greta is also seen hunting down Frances’ best friend, going to the restaurant Frances works at and make a scene, using a handgun, putting Frances to sleep and more.
The film will open in cinemas next year, in April 2019.
