Publix celebrates lifetime love in its latest commercial, highlighting that “the perfect anniversary is more than
just the food and more than just the card” and that “it all starts with the heart”.
The 60-second spot, titled “Lifetime Love”, features a young couple in their kitchen, preparing their anniversary lunch. He is shown helping her take out a bowl from the cupboard, and then having various fresh ingredients ready to be served, such as tomatoes, green olives, salami, nuts, pickles, and Parmesan cheese.
In the process, they recall the first time he gave her flowers, and he keeps helping her with things, this time with opening a jar. After desert, he stands up and invites her to dance and this is when their real age is revealed: they are, actually, a long-married couple. As they are swaying holding each other, she tells him, looking straight into his eyes and smiling, “Happy Anniversary”, and he says, in response, “Love you”.
The song playing in the background is the 2014 single “The Safety Dance” by alternative rock musical project Sleeping At Last, led by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ryan O’Neal.
