Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for the upcoming innovative action-thriller Gemini Man, directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Ang Lee.
The film stars Will Smith as Henry Brogan, an elite assassin, who – according to the official synopsis – “is suddenly targeted and pursued by a mysterious young operative that seemingly can predict his every move”.
The cast also includes Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clive Owen and Benedict Wong.
The trailer features Smith’s character explaining to someone who takes her of his wound why it is difficult for him to kill a certain target. “He knew every move of mine before I made it. I had them right there, take the shot, and he’d be gone, like a ghost. Who is he?” Brogan asks. As the trailer goes on, it turns out the mysterious man who predicts Brogan’s every move is someone who looks just like Brogan. “I think I know why he is as good as you. He is you,” a woman tells Brogan in one of the scenes. Apparently, one of the two men has all of Brogan’s gifts, without his pain.
The end of the intense trailer, which is scored by a dramatic rendition of the iconic 1984 single “Forever Young” by German synthpop recording act Alphaville, from their debut album of the same name, sees Brogan asking his clone “Of all the people in the world to come after me why would he send you?”.
Gemini Man, produced by renowned producers Jerry Bruckheimer, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger, is set to open in theaters this fall, on October 11.
