Denzel Washington returns to the silver screen in the upcoming action thriller The Equalizer 2.
The acclaimed actor reprises his role as Robert McCall, a retired agent turned hired gun who serves an unflinching justice for the exploited and oppressed, for the first sequel of his career, to the 2014 film The Equalizer, directed by Antoine Fuqua from a script by Richard Wenk, who also wrote The Equalizer. This time, the film follows McCall on his quest to exact revenge on those who killed someone he loves.
The cast also includes Melissa Leo, Bill Pullman, Pedro Pascal and Jonathan Scarfe.
“This summer, not all enemies are created equal.” onscreen lines read throughout the action-packed trailer, which reveals that McHall’s friend and fellow former operative, played by Melissa Leo, is killed by C.I.A.-trained assassins, which makes him wow he will “kill each and every one of them”, mentioning “the only disappointment”, namely that he only gets to do it once.
The song used in the trailer is Kendrick Lamar’s 2012 single “Backseat Freestyle”, from his second studio album, “Good Kid, M.A.A.D City”.
The Equalizer 2 hits theaters on July 20.
