Online marketplace Etsy aims to inspire people to make the journey back home for the holidays a memorable one in its Christmas commercial and urges them to find meaningful gifts for all the ways they celebrate, for all their dear ones and all budgets, handcrafted by sellers, only on Etsy.
Created by 72andSunny New York and titled “To The Travelers”, the spot features a diverse cast of people traveling home for the holidays and gifting their loved ones a handcrafted piece of jewelry bought on Etsy. A young man got for his mother a pair of earrings, a young woman gives her grandmother a necklace, and another young woman gives her father a snowglobe with him and her as a child inside the globe.
“Distance means so little when a gift says so much,” the voiceover says at the end of the spot, adding the tagline “Etsy has it”.
The song used in the ad is “Baby Where You Are” by American singer Ted Lucas. The track is included on the musician’s self-titled album, released in 1975, as well as on the “Tallulah (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)” album.
