Bleecker Street has released the official trailer for the upcoming sci-fi thriller Slingshot, directed by Mikael Håfström and written by R. Scott Adams, Nathan Parker.
“Slingshot is a psychological thriller featuring Casey Affleck (as John) and Laurence Fishburne as Captain Franks. The film follows an elite trio of astronauts on a years-long, potentially compromised mission to Saturn’s moon, Titan. As they prepare for a perilous slingshot maneuver that could either propel them to Titan or send them into deep space, one astronaut struggles to maintain his grip on reality.
“Earth’s greatest mission millions of miles from home will be their greatest test” onscreen lines read through the trailer.
Emily Beecham (as Zoe), Tomer Capone, David Morrissey (as Napier), Mark Ebulué also star in the movie.
The song playing in the trailer is a cover of “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”, first recorded by Nina Simone in 1964. It was written by Bennie Benjamin, Gloria Caldwell, and Sol Marcus.
In 1965, the British rock band The Animals covered “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood.” Their version is perhaps the most well-known, characterized by Eric Burdon’s powerful vocals and the band’s signature gritty rock sound.
