TNT has released the trailer for the second season of Animal Kingdom, set to premiere on May 30.
The drama series developed by Jonathan Lisco revolves around 17-year-old Joshua “J” Cody, who, after his mother’s death, moves to Souther California to live with his estranged grandmother, Janine Cody, aka “Smurf”, her three sons (Pope, Craig, and Deran), and her right-hand man, Baz, who make their living through armed robberies and other criminal activities.
The trailer features Smurf sharing her wisdom with Pope by telling him that “any idiot with a gun can pull a job, but the ones that last are the ones that know what to do with the money once they get it”. Viewers get also a glimpse into the robbery committed by the Cody brothers and Baz, their opening the stolen seif and Smurf counting the money.
At some point, her sons and right-hand man realize she’s using them to get what she wants and to turn them against each other. “Smurf is waiting for us to fall on our faces”, says Baz to Pope and Deran in another scene.
At the end of the clip, J is instructed by his grandmother, who will be teaching him to shoot, to bring his gun.
The second season of Animal Kingdom, starring Ellen Barking, Scott Speedman, Finn Cole, Shawn Hatosy, Ben Robson, Jake Weary, Daniela Alonso, Molly Gordon, and others, will consist of thirteen episodes.
