Woolworths Christmas Commercial Song

Woolworths celebrates the little things that make Christmas special in its Christmas campaign, created in partnership with M&C Saatchi within the Greenhouse Collective.

The campaign debuted with a spot that follows the journey of a group of school children dressed to represent fresh food from across regional Australia, as they all travel together to perform in a Christmas Spectacular for their family and friends. Some of them wear costumes that represent lobsters, others are dressed to illustrate cherries, others are mangoes, apples, strawberries, and carrots, and all of them are more than excited to put on a unique show. Just when they must get on stage, one girl realizes she forgot her costume along the way, during one of their stops. However, this doesn’t mean she no longer makes an appearance. Her colleagues and a few parents band together and come up with a spectacular Christmas cracker costume for the child just in time for the show.

The commercial, set to a reimagined version of the iconic song “Everybody needs somebody to love” made famous by The Blues Brothers, ends with children and their parents enjoying fresh produce from Woolworths after the successful performance.

“At Woolworths, we believe it’s the little things that make Christmas special,” the voiceover says, before the tagline “The fresh food people” appears on the screen.

“We know it’s the little things that make Christmas special, including all the festive events and moments throughout the season that you share with your loved ones. Food is at the heart of many festive celebrations and as today’s Fresh Food People we wanted to shine a spotlight on that through our latest campaign, which highlights our incredible produce, including Australian grown mangoes and cherries. And no Australian Christmas is complete without prawns,” Woolworths Group Chief Marketing Officer Andrew Hicks said in a press statement.

Earlier this year, the retailer dropped some new desserts to its Christmas dessert range this year, including the Rocky Road Tarts 6pk. These individual sized desserts feature a buttery cocoa shortcrust shell, a milk chocolate filling and a topping of mini marshmallows, raspberry jellies and shredded coconut, finished off with a pink chocolate drizzle.
