Mitsubishi Motors unveiled the all-new Colt compact hatchback for the European market earlier this year, in June, and now promotes it in a commercial inspired by Spandau Ballet’s 1983 hit single “Gold”.

The spot features a diverse cast of individuals in the new Mitsubishi COLT, while in the background the iconic track “Gold” plays.
The song is included on the third album of the English new wave band, titled “True”. At the end of the advertisement, an onscreen line introduces the all-new Mitsubishi COLT.

The COLT holds the distinction of being the first nameplate used by Mitsubishi Motors for passenger vehicles, with the inaugural vehicle bearing this name, the Colt 600, making its debut in 1962. Over six generations, the Colt has enjoyed popularity in Europe, with an impressive sales figure of over 1.2 million units in the region from 1978 to 2014. With the seventh generation, agency Mad. Avenue is striving to enhance its recognition by cleverly integrating the term “COLT” into their communication strategies. This approach is designed to leave a lasting impression and take advantage of the resurgence of ’80s nostalgia as well as of the fact that this song, given its title and chorus, would serve as the perfect soundtrack for the Colt.

The All-New COLT offers two variations: an environmentally-conscious full hybrid (HEV) model and a gasoline engine model and boasts a dynamic and sporty appearance designed to harmonize with European urban settings. The front design is in line with the Mitsubishi Motors Dynamic Shield design concept, featuring sleek full LED headlights on the upper section and L-shaped LED daytime running lights below, creating a sharp and expressive look. At the rear, the wide-emphasizing bumper imparts an agile and stable aesthetic.

The premium interior includes a Smartphone-link Display Audio (SDA) system located at the center of the instrument panel. With display options of 7 inches or 9.3 inches, the driver can access the Multi-Sense system, enabling personalized driving experiences such as selecting different drive modes (My Sense, Sport, or Eco mode), adjusting engine and steering response, and customizing ambient lighting. Moreover, the inclusion of the Bose premium sound system enhances the driving experience with immersive audio. The vehicle is also equipped with a range of advanced safety features to assist the driver in ensuring a safe and secure journey.
