Sky Sports has launched its Festive Football campaign with a spot featuring snowballs, that aims to drive excitement amongst football fans up and down the country.
The TV ad, created by Sky’s in-house creative agency in partnership with London animation and post house Coffee & TV, features millions of snowballs already on the ground and falling from the sky across the country, to the delight of players, pundits and fans. England star Jack Grealish and Sky pundit Micah Richards, Sky Sports commentators Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville, host Dave Jones and newsreader Bela Shah are featured throughout the 40-second spot, which is set to the tune of “Little Drummer Boy” performed by The City of Prague Philarmonic Orchestra & Crouch End Festival Chorus. The track is available for purchase on Amazon for £0.69.
“Christmas if for football,” an onscreen line reads at the end of the advert, which also informs that, between December 1 and January 4, over 60 live games will air on Sky Sports.
Coffee & TV creative director Phil Hurrell said “This year our aim was to push the boundaries and create magical imagery that would take people away from the reality of the current climate and look forward to the return of football over Christmas”.
Robin Garton, Sky Creative Agency’s executive creative director, said “this is a wonderfully simple idea, dramatised beautifully. It delivers the message, and a smile – a warm glow from a cool ad”.
