From bay farm animals to wild animals. After the images featuring British singer Harry Styles together piglets, a goat and a lamb, Gucci has released the film for Gucci Gothic, which features a tiger, an elephant, ostrich, sheep, llama and other wild animals.
The Italian luxury brand has tapped longtime collaborator Glen Luchford again to direct the commercial dedicated to the new collection by Alessandro Michele, part of the Cruise 2019 campaign. The respective animals are seen departing for a wooden ark together with the characters from the campaign, who are wearing Gucci Gothic pieces while building the ark.
The soundtrack music is “Big City” by Sonic Boom.
Gucci’s Cruise 2019 collection was unveiled earlier this year, in May, during a theatrical show set in Alyscamps, a Roman necropolis in the southern French city of Arles, for 400 guests. The brand’s creative director, Alessandro Michele, set up a backdrop that included a nighttime display with a trove of references ancient and modern, clouds of smoke and rows of church candles, while Claudio Monteverdi’s “Vespers for the Blessed Virgin” provided the soundtrack.
The collection includes velvet dresses, capes, such as a black moire cape and a black fur coat with leg-of-mutton sleeves, plaid skirts, floral silk prints, tiger patterns, a sleeveless denim jacket covered in sequined patches, a flapper-style fringed dress and more. References to local history, such as Gallula Roma and Urbs Genesii – the city’s former names, and Dante Alighieri’s verse, are also included.
