Telstra is building a new kind of network for a new kind of world and has released a new commercial to let you know
about it, inviting you to “thrive on a new kind of network”.
“It’s magic, isn’t it? How the world makes itself anew every minute, every day.” says the voiceover at the beginning of the 30-second spot, featuring a young couple holding their newborn baby and sharing the precious moment with their parents, who are looking at them on a tablet. “One moment you’re doing your thing (referring to a stunt with the motorcycle), next moment this thing (refering to a drone) is beaming it live to 700 of your best friends.”, continues the voiceover, referring then also to the possibility of talking to persons as holograms (“Now you’re talking to your granny as a hologram.”).
“But all this magic, you’re not just going to need a bigger network, you’re going to need a whole new kind of network.
One that’s ready for all that’s ahead of us. A network fast enough to handle your new phone. Not that one (referring to a phone a young woman receives as a gift from her boyfriend/husband), the one you’re going to get next year (much more high-tech). A network that travels with you, far from home (a young woman is shown in China, connecting to the Internet with her smartphone via Telstra Air). A network that could make a store talk to a cow, the cow to a farmer, to your truck, to your fridge, to your car. Hang on, there’s nobody driving that car. The network is.”, says the voiceover, adding that “it’s a magical time to be alive on a new kind of network that will help you thrive”.
The song used in the ad is “Clair De Lune” by Flight Facilities feat. Christine Hoberg.
