Netflix has droped the official trailer for its upcoming original film Bright, starring Will Smith.
Written by Max Landis and directed by David Ayer, the urban fantasy crime action thriller is set in an alternate world where humans and fairy tale creatures coexist with each other, trying to “get along and have a good life” and follows LAPD officer Scott Ward and his new partner Nick Jacoby, the first Orc cop, as they discover, on a routine patrol night, a darkness that will ultimately alter the future and their world as they know it.
The film also stars Noomi Rapace, Edgar Ramirez, Lucy Fry, Happy Anderson, Kenneth Choi, and Ike Barinholtz.
The trailer, that has premiered at San Diego Comic-Con, features Smith’s character as he tries to sell his house and, at work, to get to know his new partner, Jacoby. The two find a young elf named Tikka (Lucy Fry) in possession of a “magic wand”, which is, according to Jacoby, “like a nuclear weapon that grants wishes”. This makes Tikka a target, so the two partners decide to protect her and embark on a dangerous mission, as they must outrun not only cops and criminals, but also all kind of supernatural creatures.
The song used in the trailer is an original song included on the film’s album, that will be released soon.
This is the service’s most expensive original film to date, totaling $90 million, and is set to be released on December 22.
