The Independent Grocers Alliance (IGA), founded in 1926 to bring family-owned, local grocery stores together under the IGA brand, has released a summer anthem, titled “Summer of Food”.
The animated spot features a group of friends preparing various types of food for a BBQ party.
Each and everyone is involved in the process – a woman is seasoning the meat, a man is watching the burgers sizzle, another couple is chopping vegetables, bringing to the table other ingredients, and drinks. The kids, on another hand, enjoy an ice cream.
When a man tries to cut a lobster, his wife tells him to take his time, mentioning that they’ve got all summer.
Serving as soundtrack is a catchy song juxtaposed with all kinds of sounds made by the food and the persons, such as the burgers sizzling, the sound made by the shaker when pouring condiments on the meat, the sound made when cutting vegetables, when opening ice cream and taking the first bite from the crunchy chocolate cover, the sound made when taking sips from a drink, and more.
“IGA BBQ is everything,” the voiceover says at the end of the commercial.
Earlier this year, between February 26 and February 28, the NGA Show took place at Caesar’s Forum Convention Center, in Las Vegas, Nevada, where IGA’s close-knit family of retailers, wholesalers, and Red Oval partners gathered in a casual, fun celebration, that awarded retailers for best practices in marketing, advertising, fundraising, and more.
