Netflix has dropped the trailer for its upcoming mystery-thriller series 1899.
The show, from Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, the creators of “Dark”, follows a group of immigrants hailing from different parts of the world, who embark on the Kerberos vessel willing to get to New York. Their trip is disrupted, though, when they discover a missing ship, called Prometheus. The Kerberos crew board their sister steamship and soon come to realize that it’s completely empty. “What’s wrong with this ship?” a Kerberos passenger is shown asking. They also encounter a nightmarish riddle aboard the ship adrift on the open sea.
The cast ensemble includes Emily Beecham, Aneurin Barnard, Andreas Pietschmann, Miguel Bernardeau, José Pimentão, Isabella Wei, Gabby Wong, Yann Gael, Mathilde Ollivier, Jonas Bloquet, Rosalie Craig, Maciej Musiał, Clara Rosager, Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen, Maria Erwolter, Alexandre Willaume, Tino Mewes, Isaak Dentler, Fflyn Edwards, and Anton Lesser.
The trailer features stormy seas, explosions, footage of a mysterious triangle motif, and a creepy little boy, all while in the background the song “All Along the Watchtower” by Jimy Hendrix is playing.
1899 will be released on Netflix November 17.
