Smart introduces its smart #1 compact SUV in a series of new ads.
“Tomorrow belongs to the bold, to the new creators, the new adventurers, the ones who break new ground. Now it’s your turn,” the voiceover says in the opening of the 60-second commercial, titled “The smart #1 is now”, which features a diverse cast of individuals who illustrate these categories of people. “You’re up, you’re on, it’s your moment to shine. The world is your canvas, your stage, to set your own rhythm and move to your own beat. Tomorrow is a gift, so grab it with both hands and see where the journey takes you,” the voiceover also says, adding that “Tomorrow is ready. Tomorrow is waiting. Tomorrow is yours”.
“You don’t like today, don’t worry because you’ll wake up tomorrow to a different day,” one of the characters is heard saying in voiceover at some point.
The five-door crossover utility vehicle, based on the Geely-developed Sustainable Experience Architecture, is shown at the end of the commercial.
The smart #1, previewed in September 2021 at the International Motor Show in Germany, features between 420 to 440 kilometers (261 and 273 miles) on the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure, a 66-kWh battery that needs three hours to charge from 10 to 80 percent with 22-kW alternating current, a maximum output of 200 kW (272 ps or 268 horsepower) and 343 Nm (253 pound-feet) of torque, a cargo volume of 15 liters (0.5 cubic feet), and a rear-mounted electric motor capable of hitting 100 kph (62 mph) in less than seven seconds. The interior boasts a 12.8-inch touchscreen display, a 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster, as well as a 10-inch color head-up display.
The smart #1 range includes the futuristic Launch Edition, Premium and Pro+.
