The trailer for the third season of the hit series Killing Eve has been released.
The show, which featured a different female showrunner for every season, follows Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh), a British intelligence investigator tasked with capturing psychopathic assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer). Acording to the official synopsis, “as the chase progresses, the two develop a mutual obsession.” Phoebe Waller-Bridge was head writer of the first season, Emerald Fennell took over for the second season, and Suzanne Heathcote serves as showrunner for the third season.
Season 3 continues to follow the lives of Villanelle and Eve, the ex-MI6 operative hiding in plain sight. “All seems fine until a shocking and personal death sets them on a collision course yet again. The journey back to each other will cost both of them friends, family, and allegiances, and perhaps a share of their souls,” the plot reads.
The cast also includes Fiona Shaw, Kim Bodnia, Sean Delaney and Owen McDonnell, with the likes of Dame Harriet Walter, Danny Sapani, Gemma Whelan, Camille Cottin, Steve Pemberton, Raj Bajaj, Turlough Convery, Pedja Bjelac and Evgenia Dodina.
The trailer opens with Vilanelle costumed as a creepy birthday-party clown and goes on with her wearing a black outfit, telling someone “When I think about my ex, I realize I am so much happier now she’s dead.” The promo includes lots of screaming.
The song used in the trailer is Sub Urban’s 2019 eerie single “Cradles,” which has been used over a billion times on TikTok.
Killing Eve Season 3 returns Sunday, April 12 at 9pm, on BBC America and AMC.
