Burberry showcases its Autumn/Winter Pre-Collection in a new ad, starring Adwoa Aboah.
The 25-year-old British model is photographed for the first time in Accra, Ghana, as she returns home to visit her family. German fashion photographer Juergen Teller captured various moments of her journey, marked by a wide range of emotions since Accra is, as described by Adwoa, “the other half of my British blood.” Several pieces from the brand’s Autumn/Winter Pre-Collection, which is described as “a vibrant collision of prints, graffiti scribbles and checks,” are featured. Among them are the Belt Bag in hydrangea blue, the Graffiti Print Stretch Jersey Bodysuit, which is a turtleneck bodysuit in second-skin stretch jersey, splashed with a graffiti print, the Check Stretch Cotton Peak Lapel Blazer, the Check Stretch Cotton High-waisted Trousers, the Double-faced Wool Cashmere Cocoon Coat in bright coral pink, the Heritage Stripe Cotton Gabardine Trench Coat, and more.
The male model starring in the ad, named Sonny, who joined Adwoa on her trip to Ghana, is sporting a cashmere tank top patterned with bold geometric knits and ribbed edges,a ripstop jacket in graffitied Burberry archive scarf prints from the 1980s and 1990s, a Merino wool sweater knitted in multicoloured stripes with a wide neckline, and others.
The song used in the ad is the 2013 single “Step Up For The Cool Cats” by British indie rock band Palma Violets, from their debut album, “180”.
Aboah, who, in 2017, was voted as Model of the Year by the fashion industry for models.com, has modeled, over the years, for Calvin Klein, DKNY, Fendi, H&M, Versus (Versace), Fenty x Puma, Erdem, Kenzo, Simone Rocha, and others.
