Kate Spade continues its Summer 2018 campaign with a new spot featuring actress Margaret Qualley. Andie MacDowell’s 23-year-old daughter, who fronts the brand’s advertising campaign also for this season, illustrates, this time, “that feeling when you’re able to squeeze in a workout between a wedding and the reception and get back right on time”.
Titled “the wedding”, the black and white ad, shot by Inez and Vinoodh, sees Margaret dressed in sports gear, running on a treadmill. When she gets a reminder about her friends’ wedding reception, due to begin in 15 minutes, she changes her clothes, putting on a black dress, instead, puts on a different pair of earrings, arranges her hair, and finally switches from her running shoes to high heels, all while still running on the treadmill. Before heading out, she grabs her yellow “Sam” handbag, which pops against the monochromatic image.
Margaret Qualley was announced the New Face of Kate Spade at the beginning of this year, in January, in honor of the label’s 25th anniversary. She also fronted the Spring 2018 campaign, which, like the Summer 2018 campaign, was shot by Inez and Vinoodh and styled by Alex White.
Qualley made her modeling debut in 2011, when she was 16, walking for Alberta Ferretti during New York Fashion Week. Next year, during Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer, she modelled for Valentino and Chanel. She also appeared in Ralph Lauren’s Fall/Winter 2016 campaign, shot by Steven Meisel. Her debut on screen was in 2013, in Gia Coppola’s tale of suburban adolescence, Palo Alto, adapted from James Franco’s short stories.
