Mitsubishi has released a new commercial, featuring the new Outlander PHEV, introduced as the car that’s always there for you, especially for “when you choose a certain level of quality”.
The 75-second spot, directed by Michael B Wong and titled “Ready when you are”, which is the campaign’s tagline, revolves around the idea of becoming more aware about oneself and what one stands for, by showing how a man (husband and father of two little kids) changes the approach he has on life thanks to his new Outlander PHEV.
“It’s funny how life works. It used to be all about those five stars. And then suddenly you realize this is your perfect holiday”, says the voiceover at the beginning of the spot, while on the screen viewers can see the man and his family on a camping trip, with him returning from the car to the tent all wet because of the rain. However, a smile appears on his face as he sees his wife and kids laughing and having fun all together, and enjoying the evening despite the bad weather, turning it thus in a precious moment to remember.
The ad continues with the man returning to work, a big corporation where everyone is wearing dark suits, except of him, who is now dressed as if he went to gym, with earphones on. “And that day arrives when it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks of you”, says the voiceover. “You’re starting to enjoy other things. Just look at you”, adds the voiceover, while on the screen viewers can see the “other things” the man started to enjoy: “singing along with the classical music, with his co-workers, in the car, baking together with his children, and making unplanned stops on his way for his kids to enjoy the view or the encounter with a white friendly horse. “Now these are your best Saturday afternoons. And you really appreciate that extra-piece”, says the voiceover.
The commercial ends with the voiceover saying “Funny how life works. Some things you just grow into” and adding the tagline “Ready when you are”. The theme song is titled “Ready When You Are” and has been produced by Jonathan Jeremiah at Stainless Sound, especially for this campaign.
