Some heroes wear top hats. Although Mr. Peanut was originally programmed for a simple task, to promote PLANTERS nuts, straight from the assembly line his design holds something far greater. Equipped with an unwavering sense of friendliness, boundless wisdom, and an unshakable heroic spirit, all maximized to 100%, he emerges not just as a marketing machine, but as a figure destined to become a true hero.
The song playing in the commercial is “Dreams” by the Irish rock band “The Cranberries.” The track was released as their debut single in 1992, and featured on their 1993 album “Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?”
The 30-second spot, titled “Peanut Programming”, ends with the voiceover urging viewers to grab some Planters nuts and watch Mr. Peanut in The Electric State.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, and starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt, “The Electric State” is set for release on Netflix on March 14, 2025.
