NBC has teamed up with Google to promote the tech giant’s voice-enabled-device-with-a-screen, Google Home Hub.
The TV network has enlisted comedians Amy Poehler, Amy Sedaris, Maya Rudolph, Chelsea Peretti and Tiffany Haddish for a Friendsgiving celebration. The five ladies star in a series of spots that aired during NBC’s broadcast of the 92nd Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, interacting with Home Hub and highlighting features like the ability to view playlists, calendars, and photos, see who is at the front door, access videos for festive fall tablescapes, and more.
“The official kick-off to the holiday season happens on NBC every year and we’re thrilled to work with Google to create unparalleled creative to run in some of our most iconic programs during the holiday season,” Mark Marshall, president of advertising sales and partnerships at NBCUniversal, said in a statement.
Google’s Home Hub does not lack competitors. Back in September, Amazon released a new version of its Echo Show device, now with a bigger screen and improved sound, and earlier this month, Facebook launched its Portal device, which has a 12-megapixel camera on the front, and a big, bright HD screen so you can see the person on the other end of the call. The social network aired an ad during today’s parade, too. There also are Google-Assistant-powered Smart Displays from companies like JBL and Lenovo that are to be considered, as well.
