Rooney Mara, Ryan Gosling, Natalie Portman and Michael Fassbender have teamed up for the upcoming drama film Song to Song, scheduled to be released this spring, on March 17.
The film, written and directed by Terrence Malick, is a modern love story set against the Austin music scene, revolving around two entangled couples that chase success through a rock’n’roll landscape. The first couple, Faye (played by Rooney Mara) and BV (played by Ryan Gosling), are musicians, while the second couple is formed by a music mogul named Cook (played by Michael Fassbender) and a waitress (played by Natalie Portman).
Song to Song tackles not only with the struggle the two artists must lead in this music world, but also with seduction, temptation, love, and betrayal. And the cast includes also other stars, such as Val Kilmer, Cate Blanchett, Florence Welch as herself, Iggy Pop, Lykke Li, and Patti Smith.
The trailer doesn’t reveal much of the storyline, but a few scenes hint a love triangle between Mara, Gosling and Fassbender’s characters.
The song used in the trailer is “Runaway” by the American rock and roll and country musician Del Shannon, from his 1961 album “Runaway with Del Shannon”.
