Apple has released a new commercial promoting the Animoji, the animated emoji icon feature available in the Messages app only for iPhone X.
The 60-second spot, titled “Taxi Driver”, shows a bear that lip syncs to the 2018 single “Citizen Kane” by HYUKOH (included on the band’s “24 : How To Find True Love and Happiness – EP”). Besides him, there are a dragon and a hen.
The bear and the dragon are two of the four new Animoji characters introduced earlier this year, along with the lion and skull, to mark the iOS 11.3 software update for iPhone, iPad and iPod.
The Animoji feature requires the TrueDepth camera and Apple’s advanced A11 Bionic chip in your iPhone X to capture dozens of facial muscle movements and apply them on the selected Animoji character, which animates accordingly in real time.
This is not the first Animoji karaoke video posted by the tech giant. In November 2017, weeks after several Twitter users uploaded their own Animoji karaoke videos by combining the Animoji feature on the iPhone X with their favorite songs, Apple released an ad starring a model dressed in matching colors alongside her Animojis, singing along to Big Boi’s “All Night”.
Apple’s flagship device, that marks the 10 year anniversary of the iPhone, also features an all‑new 5.8‑inch Super Retina screen, the “most durable glass ever in a smartphone, front and back”, and a suite of innovative technologies, like Face ID, which is a “secure and private new way to unlock, authenticate, and pay”.
