Benedict Cumberbatch and Kelly Macdonald star in the upcoming BBC One drama film The Child In Time, adapted from the 1987 novel of the same name by Ian McEwan.
The British actor plays Stephen Lewis, a children’s author whose life is turned upside down when his three-year old daughter goes missing. The trailer features the moment the little girl disappears during a moment of distraction, at a grocery store, where she went with her dad, and continues with scenes featuring the man and his wife, Julie, suffering and struggling to keep their hope.
“Can time heal all wound?” – is the question raised in the trailer, which ends with Cumberbatch’s character in a bathtub.
The film, scripted by Stephen Butchard and directed by Julian Farino, is produced by Cumberbatch’s production company, SunnyMarch TV. The cast also includes Stephen Campbell Moore, Saskia Reeves, and others.
