Gossip Girl fans will have the chance to see Penn Badgley in the upcoming Netflix original series YOU.

Based on Caroline Kepnes acclaimed novel of the same name, the new show tells, according to the official synopsis, tells “the riveting and hypnotic story of Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), an obsessive yet brilliant New Yorker, who exploits today’s technology to win the heart of Beck (Elizabeth Lail) amid the growing suspicions of her best friend, Peach (Shay Mitchell). Joe transforms himself from stalker to boyfriend while doing whatever it takes to eliminate all obstacles standing in his way – even if it means murder”.

The trailer released by the streaming service features Badgley’s character, Joe, searching Beck’s name on Google and, noting that all her social media accounts are set to Public, judging that she wants “to be seen, heard, known.” “I believe in love at first sight. But love is tricky.” he’s also heard saying, while on screen he is seen watching her through the window of her apartment. “I’m not a maybe, I’m the one,” he confidently says, after criticising her taste in friends and promising he will give her the life she deserves. Things soon take a dramatic turn when he proves is able to do whatever it takes, even murder, to become Beck’s life partner. “How exactly does one get rid of a body?” Joe is asking himself, after several scenes reveal that he is intended to kill Beck’s best friend, Peach. “The things you do for love,” he adds.

Trailer, soundtracked by a cover version of Cheap Trick’s 1977 single “I Want You to Want Me” performed by French Crossover Prog / Progressive Rock band CHILDREN IN PARADISE, informs that YOU is “coming soon”.
