Walmart has launched a new ad created based on its tagline, “Save Money. Live Better.” to give prominence to it’s effort of helping “all kinds of families save more so they can provide more good times for their kids”.
The 60-second spot, titled “Good times” and aiming to highlight the idea that parents don’t save money for themselves, but to make a better life for their littles, features several kids fallen asleep in all kind of places, after having spent quality time with their family. Thus, we get to see a young boy sleeping on the rug, in the living room, after his birthday party, a little girl sleeping in a swing, at an outdoor party, another little girl sleeping in her grandfather’s lap, after dinner, a boy sleeping in a camp chair, in a camp ground, while his parents are packing everything to return home, a little girl falling on her knees on the beach, while heading to the car together with her family, a little girl fallen asleep on the toilet, a little boy fallen asleep in the back seat of his dad’s bike, a girl fallen asleep on two united chairs, after her birthday bowling party, and two brothers fallen asleep in the car, after a baseball match.
“These are the times worth saving for.” – states Walmart through an onscreen line, raising then the question “What will you do with your savings?”. “At Walmart, we’re proud to help all kinds of families save more so they can provide more good times for their kids.” – also communicates the international discount retail chain.
The song used in the ad is a cover by Haley Reinhart of the iconic 1987 hit song “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life”, recorded by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, and used as the theme song for the 1987 film Dirty Dancing.
