NZ Post has released its Christmas ad, celebrating the white lies of the festive season and the NZ Post’s status as “New Zealand’s favorite courier”.
The spot, created by FCB, New Zealand, features a diverse cast of Kiwi parents and NZ Post couriers who all have something in common – they work together to hide the arriving parcels ahead of Christmas from their kids. And they all have their noses grow just like Pinocchio after every lie they say. Parents are shown hiding presents in all kinds of places or creating situations to help hide the present. A woman, for instance, is spilling the milk into the kitchen sink to be able to send her husband to the grocery store.
“Keeping HO-HO hush-hush” an onscreen line reads at the end of the commercial. Serving as soundtrack is a slowed-down version of Fleetwood Mac’s song ‘Little Lies’, performed by Peter Van Der Fluit.
Kiwis have criticized NZ Post in recent years for increased costs associated with sending letters, including a 10 cent spike in July this year.
