Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for Baywatch, set to be released on May 26.

The action comedy film, based on the TV series of the same name and directed by Seth Gordon, follows the leader of an elite team of lifeguards Mitch Buchannon (played by Dwayne Johnson), as he tries, together with a new recruit (played by Zac Efron), whom he doesn’t sympathize with, to stop a local criminal plot that threatens the future of the Bay.

Baywatch stars also Alexandra Daddario, Priyanka Chopra, Kelly Rohrbach, Jon Bass, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Ilfenesh Hadera, Rob Huebel, David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.

“Welcome to Baywatch. Our team is the elite of the elite”, brags Dwayne Johnson’s character at the beginning of the
trailer, adding that they’re “the heart and soul” of that beach. We learn that Baywatch’s brand must be restored and see some of the try outs that the new recruits must pass to get on the team. Efron’s character, Matt Brody, who is a former Olympian, is shown telling to a new recruit what he thinks they are supposed to do as lifeguards: “prevent people from getting sunburned, and occasionally stop them from drowning”.

The song used in the trailer is the 2016 single “No Lie” by Sean Paul featuring the vocal collaboration of British singer Dua Lipa.
