Stella Artois has brought an unexpected duo to the screen for its Super Bowl commercial this year, featuring David Beckham and his long-lost twin brother, played by none other than Matt Damon.
Produced in collaboration with Artists Equity, the ad, titled “David & Dave”, introduces viewers to a fictional long-lost sibling scenario. The commercial kicks off with Beckham discovering, through his parents, that he has a twin brother. Intrigued, the football legend flies to America to meet him, leading to an amusing and heartwarming cultural exchange.
As the two bond over a plate of buffalo wings, Dave introduces Beckham to the classic American dish. When Beckham curiously asks if the wings come from actual buffalo, his brother laughs and explains that they’re just chicken, named after Buffalo the city. Beckham insists on double-checking, prompting Dave to ask, “Are you okay?”.
When Beckham explains that the wings are “quite spicy”, Dave reaches for a cold Stella Artois and gives it to him.
At the end of the commercial, the tagline “For Moments Worth More” appears on the screen.
