Adidas introduce Romanian tennis player Simona Halep in their latest commercial, titled “Speed Takes Aggression”, part of the #SpeedTakes campaign.
The spot features the young sportswoman, who is described as a “creator of speed”, talking about her approach on court.
“I like always to be aggressive on court because I’m not very tall. I have to take the ball fast, to play fast tennis. I try to play smart-aggressive. I try to surprise the opponents as much as I can because if I play one game, one style, they start to know me, to know what I hit, where I hit,
so it’s always good to change something during the match. You need to be 100% there for every day, to fight for every day. My inspiration is just to go in the big court and to show what I have learned. You have to stay focused and you have to believe in yourself till the end”.
The description made by Adidas to Simona Halep is the following: “When she was 13, Simona Halep wanted to win everything. She knew she’d turn pro and focused on creating her own style. Speed, power and persistence are essential to her game. Halep likes to keep her opponents guessing, covering every inch of the court. Speed takes aggression. Halep is a creator of speed”.
Adidas brought in their #SpeedTakes campaign also the South African track and field sprinter Wayde van Niekerk (for Speed Takes Dreams), the Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake (for Speed Takes Transformation), the Brazilian synchronized swimmers Bia and Branca Feres, who are also identical twins (for Speed Takes Perfection), the British track and field athlete Jessica Ennis-Hill (for Speed Takes Goals), the Brazilian volleyball player Jaqueline Carvalho (for Speed Takes Guts), and the American competition swimmer Allison Schmitt (for Speed Takes Progress).
