Widow's Bay (2026 Apple TV Series) Teaser Trailer Actor Matthew Rhys

Set on a seemingly peaceful island town located forty miles off the New England coast, Widow’s Bay appears charming at first glance, but something dark lies just beneath its surface.

The town is plagued by modern inconveniences like nonexistent Wi-Fi and unreliable cell service, as well as by a deeply ingrained sense of superstition. Longtime residents are convinced their home is cursed, a belief that clashes with the ambitions of Mayor Tom Loftis (Rhys).

Desperate to save his fading community, Loftis dreams of transforming the isolated island into a thriving tourist destination. He longs for the respect of the locals, but instead is dismissed as weak and ineffectual, a judgment that may not be entirely unfounded. Still, driven by the hope of building a better life for his teenage son, Loftis pushes forward against all odds.

Against expectations, his plan works: visitors finally begin to arrive. But with their arrival comes an unsettling reckoning. After decades of relative peace, the island’s long-dismissed legends start to come true, suggesting the locals’ fears were justified all along.

Blending genuine horror with sharp, character-driven comedy, Widow’s Bay pairs eerie mythology with human vulnerability.

Matthew Rhys leads an ensemble cast that includes Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll, and Dale Dickey, bringing this unsettling and darkly humorous world to life.

Created by Katie Dippold and directed by Hiro Murai, Widow’s Bay is a new Apple TV original series starring Matthew Rhys, premiering on April 29.
