Netflix has dropped a teaser for the upcoming eight-episode series “Boots”, inspired by former US Marine Greg Cope White’s memoir The Pink Marine.

BOOTS is a one-hour comedic drama that offers a fresh, irreverent twist on the traditional coming-of-age story.
Set in the unforgiving world of the 1990s U.S. Marine Corps, an era when homosexuality in the military was still outlawed, the series follows Cameron Cope (played by Miles Heizer), a directionless young man concealing his identity, and his best friend Ray McAffey (Liam Oh), the proud son of a decorated Marine. Together they enter boot camp, joining a diverse company of recruits whose lives collide under the weight of punishing drills and relentless psychological tests. Amidst this crucible, where the aim is to break them down and rebuild them as soldiers, unexpected bonds form, loyalties are tested, and each recruit is compelled to reckon with questions of courage, belonging, and selfhood.
In this stark environment, comedy and poignancy intertwine, revealing not only the absurdities of military life but also the resilience of the human spirit.
Vera Farmiga also stars in the series as Chameron’s mother.
