A24 has released the official trailer for the upcoming biographical drama movie The Smashing Machine, starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt.
The Smashing Machine draws inspiration from the acclaimed 2002 HBO documentary, reimagining the powerful true story of a fighter caught between triumph and turmoil. This dramatized yet deeply personal portrait traces Mark Kerr’s rapid ascent in the mixed martial arts world during the late 1990s and early 2000s, showcasing both his dominance in the ring and the punishing toll exacted by fame and physical combat. Beyond the spotlight, the film explores the darker undercurrents of Kerr’s life, his battle with opioid addiction, and the fragile, often turbulent bond with his partner, Dawn Staples, offering a poignant meditation on strength, vulnerability, and redemption.
Oleksandr Usyk also stars in the movie as Igor Vovchanchyn, a retired Ukrainian mixed martial artist and kickboxer.
The song playing in the trailer is “My Way”, famously covered by Elvis Presley.
