This City is Ours - BBC One Trailer Actor James Nelson-Joyce as Michael Kavanagh

BBC has dropped a trailer for the upcoming brand-new crime drama series “This City is Ours,” directed by BAFTA award-winning Saul Dibb, John Hayes, and Eshref Reybrouck.

Filmed against the dynamic backdrop of Liverpool, with additional filming in Spain, this gripping eight-part series delves into the turbulent world of Michael Kavanagh (played by James Nelson-Joyce) whose life in organized crime is on the brink of a major shift. As his longtime boss Ronnie (Sean Bean) begins to hint at retirement, a dangerous power struggle erupts, with rival factions vying for dominance. Caught in the crossfire of ambition and betrayal, Michael must carefully navigate the ensuing chaos, all while striving to safeguard the woman he loves, Diana (Hannah Onslow), and the child he has always longed for.

Stephen Walters, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Laura Aikman, Julie Graham, Jack McMullen, and Darci Shaw also star in the series scheduled to premiere on the BBC iPlayer and BBC One in spring 2025.

The classic song playing in the trailer is “The Good Life” by Tony Bennett, originally released in 1963 as part of his album “I Wanna Be Around”.

The song has been covered by artists like Frank Sinatra, Petula Clark, and Michel Bublé, and was featured in several films including “Goodfellas” and “The Sopranos”.
