Renault showcases the two 100% electric and 100% iconic cars of the year, Renault Scénic E-Tech and Renault 5 E-Tech, in a new commercial
titled “Cars that move with the times”.
“For you to change nothing, we changed everything. 100% electric, 100% iconic.” onscreen text appears throughout the commercial.
The Renault Scénic E-Tech Electric is an electric version of the popular Renault Scénic, a compact MPV, and represents Renault’s move to electric mobility, offering a fully electric, zero-emissions driving experience. The car is powered by an electric motor paired with a battery, which offers a respectable electric range on a single charge, typically around 300-400 km. The fast-charging technology allows you to recharge the battery to around 80% in approximately 30 minutes.
The Renault 5 E-Tech is an all-electric car, powered by a fully electric motor, that offers a range of around 400-500 km.
The song playing in the commercial is a cover of “Johnny & Mary” by British musician Robert Palmer, released in 1980 as part of his album Clues.
The track tells a story about a couple, Johnny and Mary, and their struggles with communication and commitment, and was covered by numerous artists, including Bryan Ferry and Todd Terje.
“Johnny & Mary” was used in numerous Renault advertisements in the 1980s and 1990s.
