Netflix has released a teaser trailer for “Happy Gilmore 2”, the upcoming sequel to the 1996 sports comedy “Happy Gilmore,” with Adam Sandler as the titular character.
“It’s great to see you back, Mr. Gilmore.” Travis Kelce is heard saying in the trailer.
The 30-second spot ends with a face-off between Happy Gilmore and his old rival Shooter McGavin, leaving viewers eager to see how their confrontation unfolds in the upcoming movie.
Happy Gilmore (1996), directed by Dennis Dugan, stars Adam Sandler in one of his most iconic roles. The film follows Happy Gilmore, a fiery and hot-headed hockey player whose strong slapshot is overshadowed by his lackluster skating abilities, leading to an unsuccessful sports career. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when he uncovers an extraordinary knack for hitting long-distance golf shots. Determined to monetize on this newfound talent, Happy enters professional golf tournaments with the aim of earning enough prize money to prevent his beloved grandmother’s house from being repossessed.
The song playing in the trailer is the classic rock track “Magic” by Pilot, released in 1974 and previously featured on the Happy Gilmore soundtrack.
The iconic opening line, “Oh, ho, ho, it’s magic, you know,” comes to bring a little magic to the new trailer as well.
