Netflix has released the trailer for the upcoming animated musical comedy “Thelma the Unicorn”, directed by Jared Hess and Lynn Wang.
“Thelma the Unicorn” is a movie adaptation of the children’s book written by Aaron Blabey. The story follows Thelma (voiced by Brittany Howard), a pony who dreams of being a unicorn pop star. One day, she accidentally becomes a unicorn after a carrot gets stuck on her head. Thelma’s transformation into a unicorn brings her newfound fame and attention, but she soon discovers that the newfound fame comes with a price, and being true to herself is more important than fame and fortune. The movie explores themes of self-acceptance, friendship, and the importance of staying true to one’s identity.
“I am beyond thrilled to announce that I am the voice of Thelma in the amazing film Thelma The Unicorn. (..) Thelma’s story has always been close to me, and my journey to being true to yourself and proud of who you are.” Brittany Howard wrote on Instagram.
The movie features an exceptional ensemble cast, including Will Forte (as Otis), Jemaine Clement (as Vic Diamond), Edi Patterson (as Megan), Fred Armisen (as Danny Stallion), Zach Galifianakis (as Crusty Trucker), Jon Heder (as Reggie), Maliaka Mitchell (as Peggy), and Ally Dixon (as Nikki Narwhal).
The song playing in the background is an original track whose lyrics are the following:
Something’s moving
Something’s there
Something’s blooming in the air
Now I’m screaming
Screaming at the top of my lungs
..
Thelma the Unicorn is scheduled for release May 17, 2024.
