A24 has released the official trailer for the upcoming action thriller movie MaXXXine, directed by Ti West.
During the 1980s in Hollywood, Maxine Minx (played by Mia Goth), an adult film star with dreams of becoming a mainstream actress, finally lands a significant opportunity. However, amidst her rise to fame, a series of brutal murders targeting young actresses sends shockwaves through Hollywood. As the bodies pile up, a dark secret from Maxine’s past threatens to emerge, casting doubt on her innocence and implicating her in the sinister events unfolding in Tinseltown.
“Her dream was to be a star, but Hollywood can be a killer.” onscreen lines read in the trailer.
“Maxine. I’m the private detective, hired to find you. My employer is a very powerful man. The past ain’t finished with you. It’s gonna keep knocking at your door” the private investigator, played by Kevin Bacon, is heard saying.
MaXXXine features an exceptional ensemble cast, including Elizabeth Debicki (as Elizabeth Bender), Kevin Bacon, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Lily Collins, Halsey, and Giancarlo Esposito.
The song featured in the trailer is a cover of “Self control” originally performed by the Italian singer Raf. American singer Laura Branigan has released a cover of the song in 1984, and featured it as lead single on her album of the same title.
MaXXXine is scheduled for release in the United States on July 5, 2024.
