Sony Pictures has released the trailer for Thanksgiving, co-written and directed by Eli Roth (Hostel).
The movie is set in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the birthplace of the infamous holiday, and features a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer that terrorizes the town. He appears after a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy and picks off residents one by one. “What begins as random revenge killings are soon revealed to be part of a larger, sinister holiday plan,” the official synopsis reveals, raising the question “Will the town uncover the killer and survive the holidays…or become guests at his twisted holiday dinner table?”
The cast ensemble includes Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Milo Manheim, Nell Verlaque, Gina Gershon, Tim Dillon and Rick Hoffman.
The trailer gives viewers a glimpse at the horror the Thanksgiving-inspired killer spreads in Plymouth, where Thanksgiving is “an institution”, as described, in one of the scenes, by Dempsey’s character, a police officer.
As people are murdered one by one, detectives struggle to identify him and get him. At some point, they realize every weapon he’s using is straight off a Thanksgiving table. A highschool girl states she doesn’t want to spend the rest of her life looking over her shoulder and points out that they need to stop him.
The movie will be exclusively in theaters this November.
