Capital One has released its Christmas commercial, starring John Travolta as Santa.
The spot reenacts Travolta’s iconic role in the 1977 iconic movie “Saturday Night Fever”, with the American actor dancing again on the notes of “Stayin’ Alive” by Bee Gees, which is the theme song of the original film. In the advertisement, Travolta portrays a happy Santa who’s shopping for all kinds of items, such as gingerbread, a new pair of shoes, and disco balls for his sleigh, and uses his Capital One Quicksilver card to pay for them, earning thus 1,5% on every purchase.
After helping some children get a magical Christmas tree with his magical glitter paint, he enters a club, where he drinks a glass of milk and hits the dancefloor, where he shows off his dance moves to the rhythms of “Stayin’ Alive”.
“What’s in your wallet?” he asks at the end of the commercial.
This isn’t the first time John Travolta interprets Santa. He also played Santa in Capital One’s Christmas 2020 commercial, wich promoted the Capital One Shopping browser extension. The spot featured Santa shopping for his elves’ Christmas presents and waiting for a coupon code to discount the price. Samuel L. Jackson chimes in with a video chat to tell Santa that Capital One Shopping instantly searches for coupon codes to help you save.
