In Volkswagen’s amusing new commercial for the Taos, titled “No Going Back,” a comical approach is taken toward the concept of comfort.
The spot, which aims to highlight that, once you’ve experienced the quality of the Taos, it’s hard to go back to anything else, features a woman who, after enjoying the luxurious seating in the Taos, discovers that it’s now challenging to find comfort in any other chair. She is shown in a variety of places, including her home, her workplace, the movie theater, the restaurant, her therapist’s office, sitting in all kinds of awkward positions in her attempt to find comfort. She is even shown at a chair shop, trying on dozens of chairs and asking, at some point, the seller if they have any more chairs.
As the commercial ends, the protagonist gets into her Volkswagen Taos and revels in relaxation. The voiceover states that this finely crafted SUV is “built just right”.
Described as “an SUV with a sleek design that can squeeze its way through small city streets and get you back to the ‘burbs before sundown,” the 2024 Taos, with a starting price set at $23,995, comes with 4MOTION all-wheel-drive and a turbocharged engine, 7-speed DSG automatic transmission, a spacious interior packed with useful technologies, from the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit, which displays information digitally in high resolution, to several remote and connected features, such as remote engine start, keyless access, and wireless charging.
In terms of safety, the Taos features a suite of driver assistance technologies that help enhance safety, such as Travel Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Blind Spot, Rear Traffic Alert, Front Assist, Emergency Assist, and Lane Assist.
