Walkers celebrates UK potato growers and the care taken to create its crisps in a new ad campaign, which positions the Walkers crisps as Britain’s Most Loved Crisps.
The spot, titled “We love potatoes, so you can love Walkers” and developed in partnership with VCCP, includes footage of real Walkers farmers at work, picking potatoes, sorting them, or transporting them, juxtaposed with scenes of various individuals munching on Walkers crisps, while in the background the song “The Power of Love” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood plays.
An old lady at a bus stop takes a youngster by surprise when she decides to eat even the last crumbs from her Walkers bag, a mother makes her teenage daughter a little bit sick when she eats a crisp fallen in her lap, and a man having his lunch at the office puts some Walkers crisps into his sandwich to make it crunchy.
“We love potatoes, so you can love Walkers,” the voiceover says at the end of the advert, introducing Walkers as Britain’s Most Loved Crisps.
“With taste the number one driver for snacking purchases, quality potatoes grown with love and care are crucial to delivering the great taste of Walkers crisps. With our latest campaign we wanted to showcase the partnership we have with our Walkers farmers to source our sustainably grown, 100% British potatoes to make Britain’s most loved crisps,” Rachael Smith, senior marketing lead at Walkers said in a press release.
