Volkswagen promotes the plug-in hybrid variant of its all-new Volkswagen Tiguan, which offers DC fast charging and a 62-mile electric range, in a new commercial.
The spot focuses on the fast charging and features a family in various situations where the mother takes care of charging their Tiguan and announces the rest of the family when to go. Unfortunately, the charging proves to be too fast for them, who don’t get to enjoy any activity. In the skate park, they don’t even get to start skating and the mother calls them all back to the car, when they go camping, they barely have time to take a seat on the chair, by the lake, and the mom lets them know with a whistle that the car is charged and ready to hit the road.
When she and her husband go to a cake shop, the man doesn’t get to enjoy the cake he ordered because she shows him, in the app, how much the car charged.
“Fast, Faster Fast-Charging with the all-new Tiguan” an onscreen line reads at the end of the commercial.
The car also features a newly developed cockpit and a new infotainment system. A 15-inch central screen displays important functions such as navigation, music and climate control and can be customised with quick access. The center console also houses the Driving Experience Control. The rotary control with its own mini-screen can be used to control drive mode, radio volume or ambient lighting colours.
With an enhanced electric range of 62 miles, the eHybrid also features DC fast charging for the first time. The luggage compartment capacity has increased by 33 litres to 648 litres.
Petrol, diesel, mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains are line-up for the new Tiguan, which is expected to arrive in the UK in 2024.
